What's hard
Streaming is a small but killer niche for CrossMeet:
- Want to ship overseas content, but English isn't there yet: speaking proficiency is improving — but you'd rather reach overseas audiences now
- Multi-language chat to manage simultaneously: YouTube / Twitch / Bilibili audiences mix languages; you can't keep up
- Translation + TTS + OBS = chaos: stitching Otter + DeepL + a TTS app + OBS = a live mistake waiting to happen
- A clumsy accent loses trust: viewers who hear stiff English will tune out — and the audience was already small
How CrossMeet handles it
A one-flow virtual-mic loopback:
- You speak your native language → CrossMeet translates → TTS goes through a virtual microphone
- OBS or your streaming software can select the configured virtual microphone as an audio source
- Local and cloud TTS engines differ in languages, preset voices, and voice-cloning capability
- No window switching. No copy-paste. No typing.
Multilingual / mixed-language streams:
- Available source and target languages depend on the active ASR, translation, and TTS engines
- CrossLearn and Subtitle Bridge provide bilingual subtitles, lookup, and learning records while watching videos; they are not a viewer-facing live-caption broadcast service
- Compose-bar: critical moments (guest intros, price callouts, announcements) — type + preview translation + send
Details that matter to streamers:
- Quick phrases: preset openings / giveaway scripts / thank-you lines — one-click to TTS
- Local TTS option: don't depend on an external API mid-stream
- OBS compatibility: virtual mic is selectable as an OBS audio input
- Latency tuning: VAD threshold + segmentation silence are configurable to balance latency vs. segmentation accuracy
