Terms of Service

Last updated 14 May 2026

Welcome to CrossMeet. Please read the following terms carefully. By downloading, installing, or running the CrossMeet desktop app, you agree to these terms.

0. Contracting entity

CrossMeet is operated by two independent legal entities. The entity you contract with depends on your region:

Your region Contracting entity Governing law
China mainland [CN_COMPANY_NAME] (Unified Social Credit Code [USCC], registered address [CN_REGISTERED_ADDRESS]) Laws of the People's Republic of China
Outside China mainland (including Hong Kong, international) [HK_COMPANY_NAME] (BRN [BRN], CR [CR], registered address [HK_REGISTERED_ADDRESS], Hong Kong SAR) Laws of the Hong Kong SAR

At registration, the system automatically binds your account to the appropriate entity based on your billing address and chosen settlement currency. The two entities settle independently, invoice independently, and contract independently; neither guarantees the obligations of the other.

1. License and Use

1.1 Grant of License

The contracting entity grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software on devices you own, subject to your subscription status.

1.2 Device Binding

  • Free: 1 device
  • Pro Monthly / Yearly: 2 devices
  • Pro Lifetime: 3 devices
  • Team / Enterprise: as defined in your subscription

Each device is bound via a hardware fingerprint (HWID). Releasing a device (/license/release_device) lets you activate on a new one.

1.3 Prohibited Uses

  • Reverse engineering, cracking, or bypassing the license system
  • Reselling, redistributing, or sharing your license key
  • Use for illegal, harassing, fraudulent, or rights-infringing purposes

2. Subscription and Payment

2.1 Renewal

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before expiry.

2.2 Refunds

  • 14-day no-questions-asked refund (first-time purchase only)
  • Otherwise per applicable local law minimums in the contracting entity's jurisdiction

2.3 Price Changes

We may adjust prices. Active subscriptions retain the original price for the current cycle; renewals use the new price. We give 30 days' email notice.

2.4 Invoicing

  • China mainland customers: [CN_COMPANY_NAME] issues general or special VAT invoices (fapiao)
  • International customers: [HK_COMPANY_NAME] issues USD / HKD invoices
  • See the "Billing & invoicing" section on /contact for details

3. Data and Privacy

See the Privacy Policy. In short:

  • Desktop app processes audio locally; does not upload to servers
  • Only device activation heartbeats and payment/account metadata are stored in the cloud
  • Data is segregated by region; China mainland users' data stays within China mainland
  • User data ownership remains with the user

4. Service Availability

We target 99.5% uptime for the licensing service (license.crossmeet.com), without absolute guarantee. Maintenance is announced in advance. Offline grace period: 72 hours — the desktop app keeps working for 72 hours after the network drops.

5. Disclaimer

CrossMeet is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied (including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement). We do not guarantee:

  • 100% accurate ASR transcription
  • 100% correct LLM translation
  • Continuous availability of third-party APIs (OpenAI / Anthropic / Aliyun, etc.)

For critical decisions (contracts, medical, legal, etc.), verify translations independently.

6. Limitation of Liability

Each contracting entity's total liability shall not exceed the fees you paid to that entity in the prior 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or punitive damages.

7. Changes and Termination

7.1 Changes to Terms

We may revise these terms. Material changes are announced 30 days in advance via email or prominently on the website. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

7.2 Account Termination

You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for breach of these terms.

8. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

Governing law and dispute resolution follow the contracting entity:

8.1 China mainland users (contracting entity: [CN_COMPANY_NAME])

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding the laws of the Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan region).

Disputes arising from these terms or the service shall first be resolved by friendly negotiation. Failing that, they shall be submitted to the People's Court of competent jurisdiction at the registered address of [CN_COMPANY_NAME] ([CN_CITY]).

8.2 Users outside China mainland (contracting entity: [HK_COMPANY_NAME])

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Disputes arising from these terms or the service shall first be resolved by friendly negotiation. Failing that, they shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) under the HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules in force at the time. The seat of arbitration is Hong Kong SAR; the language of arbitration is English; the arbitral award is final and binding on both parties.
