A. Product
1. What is CrossMeet?
CrossMeet is a Windows desktop app for cross-language communication. It sends microphone or system audio through speech recognition, then performs configured translation, caption display, and optional speech output. It also includes text/document translation, glossary, knowledge-base, and learning workspaces. This site does not publish competitor matrices without current verification.
2. Can I use CrossMeet offline?
- You can configure an all-local processing path, but each ASR, translation, and TTS stage needs a compatible local engine and model.
- Registration, activation, entitlement checks, and API engines may require a network. The client-displayed entitlement is authoritative for offline duration.
3. macOS / Linux support?
- Windows 10/11 only today
- macOS and Linux do not have a public delivery date
4. Mobile?
- Not planned. CrossMeet relies on a virtual mic driver + GPU + multi-window — it's a desktop-only product.
5. Does CrossMeet replace a human interpreter?
- No. Human interpreters catch tone, culture, subtext, accents, jokes — layers an LLM struggles with
- CrossMeet is great for: daily 1:1s, technical discussions, client demos, cross-language chat
- For legal / medical / diplomatic settings, use human interpreters
B. Privacy & security
6. Is audio uploaded?
- The data path depends on the engine bound to each stage. Local engines process on device; API engines send relevant data to the configured service.
- Before a sensitive session, verify ASR, translation, TTS, and logging/feedback settings individually rather than inferring the whole path from a single mode label.
7. Are translations stored in the cloud?
- Session-history storage and retention follow the current client settings. If any cloud engine is used, review that provider's data-handling policy as well.
8. Is my OpenAI / etc API key safe?
- Encrypted in Windows DPAPI (bound to your user account)
- Never sent to CrossMeet servers
- Only used when the CrossMeet client calls the corresponding third-party API directly
9. Can my company audit CrossMeet's privacy?
- Contact support with the required audit scope. The site does not present unsigned agreements, incomplete certifications, or undelivered private deployment as current capabilities.
10. What if my license_key is stolen?
- Immediately sign in to Device Management and release suspicious devices
- Email support@crossmeet.com to freeze the license
- We'll reissue a new key
C. Pricing & payment

D. Technical
18. What LLM does CrossMeet use?
- Your choice: OpenAI / Anthropic / Google / Aliyun Qwen / local Ollama / etc.
- We don't lock you to any one. All engines swappable in Settings.
19. End-to-end latency?
- There is no fixed number that applies to every device and engine. Audio hardware, VAD, ASR/translation/TTS choices, models, network, and compute all affect the result.
- For evaluation, measure the complete path on the target device, language pair, and real network.
20. How many languages?
- ASR, translation, and TTS engines have different coverage. A usable combination is the intersection of all configured stages; check engine settings instead of relying on a universal count.
21. Can I edit the prompt?
- Settings → LLM → Prompt Templates is fully customizable
- Supported vars:
{source_lang},{target_lang},{glossary},{rag_chunks},{history},{text}
22. Which video-conf apps work?
- The virtual microphone is exposed as a selectable audio-input device. Compatibility depends on the target app's device selection, permissions, and audio processing, and should be verified against the actual app version.
23. Slack / Lark integration?
- Slack and Lark bot integrations are not currently provided, and no unscheduled version is promised.
24. SDK / API for developers?
- The desktop client includes APIs for local integration. A public SDK, stability promise, and support scope have not been released.
